Austoria: The Royalist April 20th, 2021 Update

Hello everyone! It's been a while. I just wanted to take a moment to update you all on what's been happening with me and the progress of this game.

But first off, I wanted to share some lovely Petra art that I commissioned a while back. This lovely piece of work (posted above) was drawn by @Kyourin08 on Twitter! You can find a link to her Twitter page here.

Anyways, I have been making some steady progress with Ver 0.4.0, but school and several "distractions" Cough, Genshin have made it a bit hard to work on the game at a consistent pace. Sorry about that. I really do hope that I get to release the next demo soon, I already have both new maps designed, all I need to do now is add in some enemies, work on the playable characters some more, lot's of testing, and other miscellaneous improvements. I hope you all look forward to the next release.

There are some things that will not be present once again in the next demo, such as story/dialogue (the same amount as ver 0.3.1) and the cavalier animation may not be present (I know what the problem is, but the blunder I made is so big that I will have to spend hours fixing it, something that I can't devote my time to right now unfortunately). Of course, these things will be fixed in a future build, perhaps one that comes out this summer? No promises though. Nevertheless, I hope you can overlook these faults in the game, and focus most of your attention to the gameplay.

I also wanted to talk a bit about the SRPG Studio community meta. As of right now, the biggest western/English speaking community for SRPG Studio is the SRPG Studio University discord server (a link can be found here). This place is great for it's abundance of scripts and scripters (many of these scripters, such as Claris, Goinza and MarkyJoe, have made many scripts that are used in this project), how to use the basics of the engine, as well as discussing off topic subjects (notably Fire Emblem and table top games). Overall, the atmosphere is welcoming and it's content is PG.

Though, there is a small portion of the University community (and a handful of outsiders that I've met elsewhere) that wish that the University discord  server was structured differently (Important links and resources being easier to find) and/or included the option to discuss mature (16+) topics (the freedom to discuss mature topics about your project's plot, or have access to a NSFW channel), and etc.

That is why one member, 『主さま』, decided to make a new SRPG Studio server. His primary goal is to make a server that will prioritize on  showcasing projects made by the community, and have people give feedback to those projects. The server will also strive to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to all, and if users wish to discuss NSFW topics, there will be a dedicated role that unlocks those channels (dubbed the "Red Room"). The server is by no means a replacement to the University server, but it gives fans and users of SRPG Studio another place to share their content. At it's current state (as of the writing of this post), it's still in open beta and very small, but it will be improved as time goes on. I urge anyone who is interested to join, or at the very least, spread the word around. A link to the new server, titled "Yet Another SRPG Studio Server" (abbreviated YASSS), can be found here.

On a more fun and lighthearted note, I've been dipping my toes into the VTuber craze lately, and I've started to see many artists putting up commission pages for custom VTuber models. I've been thinking about getting a Live 2D model of one of the Austoria characters (Perhaps Sara?), but commissions like that are expensive, and not to mention, you need a good PC to use a high quality model. Maybe one day...

Anyhow, that's all I want to say for now. Thank you for reading this post, and I hope you all look forward towards the release of the next demo. Take care.
